The customer service at this post office was absolutely fantastic. Ed offered consultative help and was incredibly patient with me despite the lunchtime crowd. I don't use the U.S. Postal Service very often but this branch makes me unafraid to ask questions and the staff are efficient and as helpful as possible given the structural / bureaucratic constraints they face. Not sure why everyone else is so harsh in their reviews but I am certainly a satisfied customer and will readily return here.
This place has GOT to improve itself both in customer service, and its policies. Each time I come here, I do not feel that I am getting the best service. Certainly, the people here try their best to be as polite and respectful as possible towards their customers; however, insincerity comes from how they serve others through mundane, regulatory procedures. For the clueless mailer, the rules are not explained well, and it seems as though they often attempt to send your packages through the most expensive available options. For instance, a small package containing a simple playing card almost earned me $23 to send had I not intervened and asked for a cheaper option of $3. The cheaper $3 option did not come with tracking #, which I had always gotten at other USPS mailing places I have visited. The mailer explained to me that this is because the other places have the "wrong" procedure for sending it out, which, regardless of the circumstance, either shows the USPS State College has poor policies, or is unkind towards their customers as opposed to the "others". It is my basic economics understanding that customers always want the cheapest option and with the best return for their money; therefore, I can only conclude USPS State College do not want more customers. I have been to other mail post offices around State College, and none are as poorly managed as this one. I do highly recommend the USPS places elsewhere, particularly the one at the 110 Rolling Ridge Dr., or the one at the McAllister Building.
p.s. Jake should get a raise
For being one of the busiest smaller town post offices, it is the slowest and least staffed. With the amount of retirees and foreign students this town has, they need staff. 2 people and 10 people in line at most times and days? Ridiculous. Most times I just use UPS most days now
Jake helped us out so much by going out of his way to find an urgent package that had been delayed. Had an awesome experience! Thanks Jake and USPS!
Regardless of all the bad reviews the staff here went completely out of their way to help me. I came in and asked if i could pick up a package a day early and the only way that was possible was if they sorted through 1000 other packages they received that day. Jake was so helpful and he had done everything he could to find it. They ended up calling me back AFTER the office had closed and told me i could come in because they found it. Overall had an awesome experience and will definitely be doing any further business through them!
