We brought our car to Lohr's to get it titled and registered in PA after moving to State College from MA. We had to make multiple trips there because they told us incorrect information about what paperwork was required. After many trips to Lohr's we finally got the car registered. We scheduled an inspection for a week later. Our car failed the safety inspection and they reported that we needed $1700 of work to get the car to pass the inspection (the car is only 5 years old and has 40k miles on it) and we were shocked. Some of the things that they said needed fixing (break pads, rotors, etc.) were obviously not faulty or we would have noticed. We promptly called around to a few other places. We ended up taking to car to Monro Muffler and Breaks down the street. They did an inspection on the car and gave us a quote of $400 to get the car to pass inspection. They also noted that not as many things were wrong with the car as Lohr's claimed. We had the car serviced at Monro and re-inspected. The car is now fully inspected and we paid $1300 less that what Lohr's was attempting to charge. We will be reporting Lohr's to PennDOT for running this type of scam. I suspect that since we are women they think that we do not know enough about cars to know better, and consequently they were free to claim things that weren't true and try to charge us $1700 for repairs that were not needed. They were wrong. This sort of dishonesty is incredibly disheartening. I would not recommend Lohr's for any sort of repairs or inspections. I sincerely believe that they are dishonest, and when it comes to inspections will fail people in an attempt to get more money out of them. If you want honest, good quality service I would highly suggest you go elsewhere.

I bought a Honda Accord with 166,000 miles on March 1st. They charged 1000 over blue book value. They charged me one hundred dollars to replace the dead battery as well. I should have known then, but I drove it home. It died March 30th. The third piston went. They refused to do anything about it.

The most unprofessional rude people you will ever have the displeasure to meet, wasted 9 days for a useless appointment for an enhanced inspection. Do yourself a favor and drive to Bellefonte or altoona
