Went here when I️ visited Penn State- incredible bar. Clubhouse sandwich was possibly the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Service was great, huge beer selection, and a stellar layour.

Summary: As far as downtown state college bars go, champs is ahead of the pack. Service isn't good, no matter the time, but aside from that if you can endure the crowds the bar is good.

Probably the best all around bar in State College. Great food, large selection of craft beers, excellent service, and the place is huge! Check out the basement for pinball machines, video games, pool tables, and an active hangout for young singles. Amazing atmosphere during Penn State football game broadcasts. Highly recommend!

One of the greatest bars in State College, hands down. Lots of bar space on both floors, the upper loft tables are great, there is always seating when it isn't super super packed. Downstairs has a lot of pool tables and arcade games. Drinks are pricey, but it is to be expected.

Terrible and under trained staff. Bartenders barely know how to make drinks, let alone maintain the atmosphere. One shouldn't be bothered to order a drink every 15 minutes with a disapproving look when not giving in to their badgering. Bouncers are overzealous and do not have very good social skills. They will kick people out if one leans against a wall or they find a minor sign that might be taken as intoxication. Have had multiple acquaintances complain about the treatment they received there. Would not recommend to anyone.

During the week the bar has excellent food and affordable beer options so long as your tastes don't point towards the expensive craft varietals. The selection is enormous, and the taps and lines maintained, but you're going to have to pay for it the same as anywhere else in town. I'd advise you to avoid food on the weekends or past 8 on weekdays, it seems to be when the B team shows up. Still acceptable quality, but nothing to write home about. If coming here for the evening I'd suggest any standards beer on tap or specials like the $4 dirty Sprite. The lines at night usually move pretty quickly, but like at all times here service otherwise is slow to moderate, seemingly with no reason. The service you do get is good, it's just spread out. Don't expect to do a 20 minute lunch here unless you request your check early and know what you want when you walk in. Overall on a scale of Cafe 210 west to Local whiskey, I'd place the service at a 4.5. You get it often enough to keep you strung along, but not enough to keep you happy. Again, I like coming here, I enjoy the food, and the ambiance, but I go out of my way to only come here on weekdays for an early dinner or lunch. Also of note is the arcade downstairs, which is interesting, nothing else much to say about it
