Paul & Tony's is great. They were just celebrating their 40th anniversary the other day, and congrats to them for that. I can see why they've made it to 40. Every time I've been in there, I feel like I make a personal connection there, whether it's with Paul or Tony or another staff member. I always, always learn something and I usually leave with a better understanding of sound equipment in general. And really, this is one of the few places to find specific audio items in State College. Looking for a receiver for a 5.1 audio system? Ha, you might find one or two options at BestBuy, priced at hundreds of dollars. Paul & Tony's does carry a lot of higher-end, expensive equipment, but they're also well-stocked in used equipment for super reasonable prices. I picked up a terrific record player here a few months back for under $50; it works beautifully. I grabbed a subwoofer here for under $100 yesterday. Paul went over the whole unit with me, Tony filled in on the more technical questions (What is reversing the polarity, really?!) and another staff person offered to plug it in to see how it sounds for me. You can see why I like this place! (Minor con: their cables/accessories are kinda expensive, priced at that "need it now" point. I'd rather buy all my cabling stuff here than Amazon/Monoprice, but it isn't worth it.)
