The technician's and receptionist we're also very nice and caring to me and to my mother's dog. They gave me an estimate so I knew how much everything was going to cost.
I have seen some negative reviews about Dr. Parks and I wanted to write a positive review about her. She was wonderful and caring to my mother's dog. He came in with bloody diahrrea and vomiting. He was diagnosed borderline HGE. She wanted him to stay the night to get the treatment that he needed. That evening I spoke with her with an update on his condition. He was doing great!
An emergency situation, be it for a human or a pet, is never a desired event :) But when you come to a place where you feel in good hands, where your worries are eased, relief is provided, questions are answered and procedures explained, that can shift everything and bring such peace. To everyone on staff, Angelina, Kathi, Dr Vet (sorry, didn't catch your name) - Thank you!
This place is great. We had a late night emergency with our bunny and our vet was closed. So we decided to take him here. They diagnosed him quickly and were extremely thorough with asking every detail that led up to his issue. The vet there was knowledgeable in rabbit care and explained everything to us well. He showed us the x-rays and further explained the problem. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who has an emergency with their pet. The fee is fair for emergency services and the other fees for medications and procedures are also fair. Thank you for your services!
I can’t express my gratitude enough to the vets and techs at CP. After a long and terrible experience at another ER vet I called CP explained what was going on and took my dog over. They got Gunner right in, kept us updated throughout his entire surgery. He’s home now and still recovering and doing well. For any(I really hope none) further pet emergencies I will definitely go here. Many thanks- Gunner and The Shriners
Thank you, CPVETS!
Experienced and caring staff who made my dog and me feel comfortable. They also quoted a price estimate up-front, which was good to know too. Thank you!
Vaughn Watson has the right dog and the right hospital. I brought Bo Myers in because he was throwing up and getting really dehydrated. I had to leave him over night because they were doing X-rays. They found some foreign materials in his stomach from the X-rays. Dr. Parks told me he needed to have surgery and said it would be a simple procedure to remove whatever was in there. She was supposed to call me before Bo went into surgery. She did not. I called several times in order to get updates on my dog. Finally she called me at 7 in the evening and said that she removed a foot of bowel and the foreign materials. She said it was a rough surgery for a dog at his age. He was 14. I was obviously very upset and asked how he was doing and she just was very unsympathetic and just kept saying he was doing "as well as to be expected". 2 days went by and I visited Bo both days... and each day I got a different doctor. Some told me he was okay to go home. Other doctors said no you can't take him home. Neither time did I get Dr. Parks. I was so upset because of all these conflicting viewpoints from different doctors... I eventually took him home that second day because I could see how sad and uncomfortable my dog was. He was not eating or doing anything for the techs at CP Vets..As soon as he got home he was wagging his tail again. The next morning Bo threw up a lot of fluid.. I called CP Vets to see what I should do because he shouldn't be throwing up. They said bring him in again. We came in... and bo just collapsed on the floor and all of the Vet techs were saying to us how sorry they felt for us and for Bo... they took over an hour to see us with my dog laying there on the floor.. we eventually got in the room and sat for at least another 45 minutes before finally we got to speak with Dr. Parks, who did his surgery. She poked on his belly for literally 3 minutes and gave him some nausea medication and sent him home. Said he was fine. We were charged $400 for just bringing him back in when she did absolutely nothing... and they told us around 2,000 for the total bill and it was over 4,000. My dog died less than 12 hours later. The next day someone called me for an update on bo from CP Vets, as a follow up I believe... and I told him he was dead and they apologized and hung up. I called my mom..who called and told them to stop contacting me and to contact her in the future about the bill because I was devastated after losing my dog of 14 years. He was a family member... when my mom called back in to tell them not to contact me and change the info they had to hers... she voiced how upset she was over how we were treated to the tech. She told them I was never given any information regarding the details of Bo's surgery and I was never given the option to put him down. At 14 years of age, had I known what was going on with my dog, and had Dr. Parks informed me and explained the risks and benefits of having the surgery versus not, like a good doctor, I would've made the decision not to put my dog through all of that at his age.. my parents were away on vacation and he was our family dog at the time all of this happened.. so I was alone and trying to save my dog and I feel like Dr. Parks took complete advantage of me and my emotional state. She absolutely explained nothing to be about the risks and benefits of the surgery. I was never even given any other options... so anyway, my mom was explaining all of this to the tech that answered her call, she was very apologetic and kind and agreed with us. She offered to let my mom talk to Dr. Parks, Dr. Parks told the tech she was unavailable to come to the phone and she would call my mom at a different time. She called my mom at 2:30am in the middle of the night and left a message... imagine had my mom woken up to this call from this random number at 2:30am. She would've thought something was wrong or there was emergency... not only that, who returns a patient's call at 2:30am?? A coward. I never would've made my dog suffer like that and I struggle with this pain every day since he's gone.
Next morning Dr.Haines (I apologise if that is not the correct doctor) called to give me another update. Again great night and still wanted to keep him for the day to see if he would keep his food and meds down.
Unfortunately (for us) I had to return a couple of weeks later, this time with my cat. I had the same positive experience: Caring, supportive, professional staff and reasonable pricing.
Yes, people have complained about the wait time. But would you like the doctor to rush through the appointments and not take time to speak with the owner's and thoroughly examine your pet? I would rather wait and have to doctor take their time with each client. There is only one doctor on staff. Please be patient! I know how hard it can be to see your pet very sick or hurt but please understand that they are trying their best to accommodate to everyone's needs.
