Forever Grateful,
My husband and I took our dog Lucy in on a Saturday because she quit eating and her walking was very slow. We called around 11:00 am and they asked if we could be there by 2:00. We said we could and when we arrived they took us in immediately. They did blood work and other tests on her (which in my opinion was fairly expensive but worth it) Dr. John Griffiths let us know that she had advanced stages of lime disease and her kidneys were failing. I appreciated the honesty of the doctor who told us they could keep her there for a couple of days and give her fluids but it would not be a cure and she could possibly feel just as bad if not worse in a few days. The doctor did not give us false hope and told us if it was his dog he would put her down. I didn't hesitate even though it was very hard because Lucy looked awful and you could see she was suffering. We wanted to put her to sleep in the grass instead of in the office because Lucy was a beagle and she loved being outside, They readily accommodated us and that's where she passed. We went into the office to use the restroom before we had to head home and one of the staff (Sharon) gave my husband and I a big hug and told us how sorry she was. She also told us about grief counseling that was available for the loss of pets. She actually had tears in her eyes and I appreciated the caring and compassion she showed us. I would highly recommend this place for emergency vet care and regular vet care if you live close enough. Even though the outcome is not what we hoped for I am so thankful to Dr. John Griffiths and all of their caring staff.
Excellent care. I ended up taking my cat in Monday morning at 6 am after traveling from Williamsport with a plugged boy.. I can't say enough good about Dr. Jennett and Dr. Rider and the staff for the care they gave my boy. Within 3 hours of leaving him surgery was completed and he was in recovery. We had issues getting him to eat a couple days after surgery and the vet techs were very helpful with tips and trying different naseua meds. A week later you wouldn't know he's had surgery. Would definitely recommend and wish we were close to use them on a regular basis.
These folks are awesome. Couldn'a asked for a better surgeon and staff!!!

Friday night we had an emergency with our 6mth old puppy, Rosie, while on a weekend getaway in Lock Haven. Dr. Sean and team put us at ease almost immediately with a quick diagnosis and treatment plan. We had to leave her overnight but felt she was in good hands. Saturday morning we picked her up and she was good as new! Can’t say enough about the emergency services provided by Metzler Animal Hospital!
We were sent to Metzger for a 2nd opinion for our sweet Hank. They were sweet to him, caring, compassionate to us and ultimately, we decided to have him put to sleep based on his diagnosis of prostate cancer. We were given as much time as we needed to grieve there in the office. Everyone was so kind. Who would have ever thought we'd be back three days later with Hank's 16 year old brother, Barney who, maybe heart broken from losing Hank, had given up and could no longer use his back legs. They took us right in with utmost compassion and again gave us as much time as we needed. This time, the kids were with us and the staff explained everything to them. One male tech even gathered some of Barney's hair and put it into a pill bottle for us. This place is top notch. If we lived closer, they would be our primary vet. Thank you so much for such wonderful care at one of the worst times of our lives. RIP Hank and Barney
