I couldn't be more grateful.
Whether it's getting shots, getting medicated food, cleaning out dirty ears or anything else, this vet's office is our go to for our two cats. They have always been friendly, good with our cats, and a well of information.
SCVH was my vet for 14 years from the time we got our dogs to their final day. They are very knowledgeable and more importantly make the furry patient and the owner feel at ease. The staff is also great. When we moved I drove my dogs to the scvh because of the staff and the care they provide. Yes, the wait has sometimes been long but that's because they are willing to take the time needed for their patients and owners. I would definitely recommend SCVH for anyone looking to add a pet to their family or who is dissatisfied with their current vet.
This was the second veterinarian that I went to with my parakeet when she began to have trouble with her right leg. C. P. Vets was able to stabilize her in an emergency when het breathing became labored from the stress of her injury, but they don't have an avian vet, so they made a very common mistake in her diagnosis. I don't hold it against them, and they got her through one especially bad night with the resources available there, but taking her to Dr. Scholz at State College Veterinary Hospital from there was an answered prayer. She's so kind and respectful, incredibly gentle with my delicate little bird, and astoundingly knowledgeable.
After a few weeks, the tumor predictably grew and exacerbated my bird's condition. Today it was finally time to have her euthanized. Dr. Scholz was very gentle and compassionate while also providing such careful explanation of the entire process.
It was such a gift to have the knowledge to make exactly the best and most informed decision I could, and the kindness shown by all the staff was exceptional. This office can absolutely expect my continued business for my remaining parakeet and any future pets, as well as my recommendation to anyone looking for a vet, especially for a bird.
The professional&affordable care my baby girl received was nothing short of a blessing after the week of worry we had at a different vet clinic. The staff was amazing and without prejudice. I'll forever use SCVH!
Probably the best vet in the area. Took great care of my kitten
Before even performing x-rays, Dr. Scholz theorized that my bird's evident foot problem was probably a kidney tumor compressing her sciatic nerve. The films showed the same. She offered medicine that was helpful for her pain, great advice and wisdom, answers to my many questions, empathy, and the peace of mind of knowing what was wrong and knowing I'd done all I could to care well for my budgie.
It was, of course, very sad and difficult. I was deeply attached, and the staff were all very understanding. I was allowed to stay with her through the process, and they helped me to cast an imprint of her foot in air drying clay after it was done as a keepsake. A brief autopsy afterward, which was done with my approval, proved that the tumor was indeed what we suspected and was very large and destined to cause more suffering if I hag held pin longer.
